The Signal

Dear <<c_First_Name>>,

Blake Goldring
Founder and Chair
Canada Company

The natural beauty that comes with the fall season is here, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve been enjoying the spectacular weather and spending time with friends and family. The colourful leaves and cozy meals from the fall harvest have been a real treat. After nearly a year and a half without seeing each other in-person, it has been wonderful to reunite with our supporters at some of our events.

In October, I was proud to attend our 15th Annual Scholarship Ceremony and support the children of our fallen military members. It was a fantastic, lively event that included past recipients who joined us for the celebration in Ottawa. It was also an honour to host a knowledge exchange event in Quebec and unveil more LAV III (Light Armoured Vehicles) monuments in communities across Canada.

All in all, it has been a great year so far. I’m looking forward to announcing more upcoming programs and events, so stay tuned for info on how to participate. As always, we will continue to serve the brave men and women who put service before self.

15th Anniversary Scholarship Ceremony

For fifteen consecutive years, Canada Company has been providing scholarships to the children of those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.

This year’s Scholarship Ceremony took place in Ottawa on August 18, 2022. We were proud to award scholarships to 20 outstanding youth and 2 post-graduate students – each of whom has demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of tragedy.

15th Anniversary Scholarship Ceremony

We were honoured to hear from special guests Ron MacLean of Hockey Night in Canada and Chief of the Defence Staff, General Wayne Eyre. We also heard from 2022 recipient Madison Beerenfenger and Amber Vialette, the mother of Jasmine Vialette, a past recipient, who shared what the scholarship and support has meant to her and her family.

Over the past fifteen years, a total of $884,000 in Canada Company Scholarships has been awarded to 77 students from 45 military families.

LAV III Monuments

LAV III monuments

Since 2014, Canada Company has been honouring the service and sacrifice of the 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan and the 162 Canadians who lost their lives by installing full-sized replica LAV III monuments in communities across Canada.

On October 2, 2022, the towns of Conception Bay South NL and Morinville AB hosted dedication ceremonies to unveil their LAV III Monuments. They will forever serve as a symbol of remembrance.

Our next and final monument will be unveiled in Winnipeg, MB.

Quebec Chapter — Mess Dinner

Quebec chapter keynote speaker

Through the years, Canada Company has been building bridges between military members and business leaders with our Exchange programs. On October 5, 2022, the Quebec chapter of Canada Company hosted a Mess Dinner for business leaders with keynote speaker Lt. General (Ret'd) the Honourable Andrew Leslie, former Commander of the Canadian Army.

Discussions included a question-and-answer session about leadership and the current geo-strategic situation. The event was well received by both the business and military communities, with many engaged participants and thoughtful discussions.

Je Me Souviens

Our education program, Je Me Souviens, has launched a new module, Courage in the Chaos: The Story of Dieppe. It was created to help students learn more about the bravery and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers on the shores of Dieppe, France, during the Jubilee Raid on Aug. 19, 1942. It should be of interest to anyone who enjoys learning more about Canada’s military history.

Canada Company Logo

Canada Company provides Canadians with many ways to serve the people who serve Canada: Our military members, veterans, and their families — on active duty and in civilian life.

We provide support for military families through scholarships, direct financial support, and more. We provide civilians with a better understanding of military life, to promote the value of service. We also act as a bridge between military personnel, civilians, and Canadian businesses to increase understanding of what it means to serve. And we honour the memory of our men and women in uniform through events and memorials.

Serve those who bravely serve our nation. Support one of our initiatives today.
